The Emancipation of Separation! by Rich Novek

The Emancipation of Separation!

Some of the definitions of the word emancipation: liberation, setting free, freeing, and release.

A “paradigm shift” is a modern phrase not many people are familiar with. It has to do with a new way of thinking about, or how something is perceived. Webster’s Dictionary describes it as: “A radical change in thinking from an ACCEPTED point of view to a NEW one.”

“Cognitive dissonance” is another modern phrase which is also not known by many. Here is its meaning: “a feeling of uncomfortable tension which comes from holding two conflicting thoughts in the mind at the same time.”

Paul gives his definition of a paradigm shift in his discourse in Romans: “And do not be conformed to this world, but BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)

Jesus definition of cognitive dissonance is as follows: “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Mathew 6:24)

In moving from the viewpoint of seeing God as being separate from us to seeing God Only, we must have as a foundation a strong belief in both of these aforementioned viewpoints!

Separation has its basis in a belief that we are able to do something FOR God, rather than Him doing ALL of His work THROUGH us. It comes from the original sin found in the book of Genesis.

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, you must not eat from any tree in the garden? The woman said to the serpent, "we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, you must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die. You will not surely die, the serpent said to the woman. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened………. and YOU WILL BE LIKE GOD, KNOWING BOTH GOOD AND EVIL." (Gen 3:1-4)

Now the serpent was more crafty……..”You will be like God, knowing GOOD AND EVIL!” In other words, “Adam and Eve, you now know God Only, all you now know is pure Love, and it is impossible for you to see anything but God! You have the mind of Christ, and you can Only see God in ALL THINGS!

BUT……….If you listen to me you will not only see the goodness of God, but for the first time you will also see this other thing called evil! Only problem is, since you will only be LIKE God, and you won’t actually BE God, you will from this time forward see everything in life with a divided (wicked) heart of unbelief! You will never again see with a single eye, heart, or mind, not ever again! Where there is now no inner conflict of any kind, inner conflict is all you will have, and where His Peace is now all there is, in it’s place will be turmoil like you have never imagined! And one other thing, you will enter this thing called time, and in time is this other thing called death! Where you once walked with God in the cool of the day, you will now have an ongoing internal war, it’s called the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the boastful pride of life!”

Be careful, brothers and sisters, that none of you ever develop a WICKED, UNBELIEVING HEART that turns away from the living God. (Hebrews 3:12)

Wickedness is unbelief, unbelief causes us to “turn AWAY from the living God!” Turning away from the living God happens because of guilt, guilt is the by-product of condemnation. Condemnation is birthed through seeing the Law of Sin and Death! The Law of Sin and Death becomes our reality by walking with a divided heart, trying to serve and worship more than one God at one time!

Let’s take another look at what Jesus says in Mathew chapter 6; “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Mathew 6:24)

And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house (and we are that house) divided against itself shall not stand.”

It does not matter if we WANT to serve two God’s, because we were created to serve ONLY ONE GOD AT ONE TIME! It’s not a question of if or why or when, or how, because it is absolutely impossible for us to walk as functioning human beings while trying to serve more than one God! And it doesn’t matter if the god’s name is Mammon, or Money, or Power, or Position, or Fred, or Mary, or Johnny! Let’s all learn this truth as the bedrock of our Christian existence, and let’s learn it right here and right now! YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO SERVE AND WORSHIP MORE THAN ONE GOD! It is an absolute impossibility! Many have tried, all have failed! We have to finally see we were specifically designed to serve and worship ONLY God, why do we think the serpent was bent on his plan of causing Adam and Eve to see GOOD AND EVIL! It was not about the good or the evil, it was about trying to serve and worship more than one, GOOD AND EVIL!

Remember the rich young ruler;

“And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, GOOD Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, WHY CALL ME GOOD? THERE IS NONE GOOD BUT ONE, that is, GOD!” (Mark 10:17-18)

Jesus cut him off, he was saying to him, you see me as good, so that must mean you see something else as evil! Notice His reply, “THERE IS NONE GOOD BUT ONE, that is, GOD!” Is it possible what he was really saying is “Only One is Good!”

“The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is SINGLE, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is EVIL, thy body also is full of darkness.”

Jesus does not use the word “double”, but uses the word “evil”, why is that? Do we think He is showing us that “double” and “evil” are in fact the same words, and as far as he is concerned hold the exact same meaning?

One of my favorite verses in scripture is Galatians 5:1; It is for freedom that Christ has set us free! Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

FREEDOM! Remember in Braveheart when, at the time Mel Gibson is being gutted like a deer, and he cries out FREEDOM just before he loses his head?

That is the kind of freedom Paul is talking about! It is not a temporal freedom that has to do with perfect behavior or changing circumstances! It is in fact the FREEDOM OF GOD! How much freedom does God experience?

For to me to LIVE IS CHRIST, and to die is GAIN! (Phil 1:21)

Paul’s struggle in Romans 7 concludes with his Romans 8 proclamation of a NEW LAW for the believer! A LAW OF TOTAL FREEDOM!

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the “Law of the Spirit of Life” set me free from the “Law of Sin and Death.” Paul was saying after all of his struggling to try to find God’s will, after all of the TRYING to be found perfect in the law, after all the trials he endured in his life, he finally found the secret to his ETERNAL FREEDOM! Paul’s freedom came to him the exact same way it will come to us! By seeing the Law of SIN AND DEATH (seeing more than God) as being swallowed up by the new Law of the SPIRIT OF LIFE In Christ! (seeing GOD ONLY!)

Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. THEN YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE."

They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?" Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins (sees double) is a slave to sin (seeing double). Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. SO IF THE SON SETS YOU FREE, YOU WILL BE FREE INDEED.

“But the man who looks intently into the PERFECT LAW THAT GIVES FREEDOM, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but (allowing the Spirit who is the ONE willing and doing) doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.” (James 1:25)

Being set FREE! Living as the free people he created us as! Knowing He will never leave or forsake us, knowing there is not any separation or division, and walking in that wonderful place of knowing He is OUR ONLY LIFE!

This is our EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION! If the SON sets us free, we are free INDEED!

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love.” (Romans 8:38 New Living Translation)
