Today we share an article from my co-author Nurse Cat, who uncovered something shocking that might be silently sabotaging your energy, digestion, and immune system too.
-Mike —
I’ve spent decades immersed in health, functional medicine, and nutrition. I generally eat a diet of the cleanest, healthiest food I can find. But I’m also a world traveler and adventurer, and sometimes I don’t get to be as choosy with what I eat, as I do at home.
There was the time we were guests of an indigenous tribe high in the Peruvian Andes—they were so thankful we had helped protect their village from a massive dam, that they slaughtered a pig for a celebratory meal. Another time, we were on a remote raft trip on the Karnali River in Nepal, and our guides stopped at a village, killed a goat and roasted it for us to feast by the river. I’ve also eaten sushi in Thailand, Colombia, campfire meals in Botswana, ceviche from beachside vendors in Baja, and various other meals that would seem ‘iffy’ to unadventurous types.
I wouldn’t trade those experiences for the world. But at some point, you gotta wonder…
Could I have some unwanted “critters” in my gut?
So I thought I’d try what seems to be the latest health fad… a parasite cleanse.
First few days on the cleanse, no issues. I felt fine.
But then—boom. Bloating. Skin rashes. Digestive chaos. Fatigue and aching. And my face broke out. It seems the cleanse was making me feel worse.
That’s actually a good sign.
When parasites die off, they can release toxins and waste and it's a classic sign that the critters are being evicted.
So I stuck with the cleanse. And a few days later, everything changed for the better.
My skin cleared up. Digestion normalized. I had a surge of clean, natural energy I hadn’t felt in months. And my gut discomfort? Gone. That tells a lot.
Parasites: The Hidden Epidemic No One Talks About
We tend to think of parasites as a third-world problem, or something you get from drinking out of a dirty stream or eating undercooked pork or fish in some far-off land.
But… that’s not always the case.
Parasites are actually shockingly common, even here in the U.S. In fact, some experts estimate over 90% of people have some form of parasitic infection and don’t know it.
If you’ve ever:- Traveled internationally and eaten raw fruits or vegetables, drank the water or had ice in your drink
- Eaten sushi, pork, or rare meat
- Swam in a pond, lake, river or even a swimming pool
- Walked barefoot outdoors
- Had pets in your home
You’ve likely been exposed to many different types of parasites.
What Exactly Are Parasites?
Parasites are organisms that live and feed off a host—you. They feed on the nutrients in your body, take over your gut, dump toxic waste into your system, and can live for years inside your body often without obvious symptoms.
There are many kinds, some you can see, but many like giardia and the organism that causes toxoplasmosis—are so tiny you can’t see them without a microscope. Here’s a few of the most common parasitic infections:- Toxoplasmosis – microscopic parasites that come from cat feces, dirt and cat litter
- Roundworms – often from pork, soil, or contaminated food
- Tapeworms – from beef, raw fish or your pet
- Giardia – a waterborne invader that can get in your drinks or ice
- Blastocystis hominis – hard to detect, even on tests
- Liver flukes – which mess with detox and digestion
- Pinworms – tiny, but shockingly common, especially in children
- Candida – not technically a parasite, but it can act like one with toxic byproducts, cravings, brain fog, and inflammation
Common Parasite Symptoms (Most People Miss These)
You don’t need to see worms in your stool to know you have parasites. Most of the time, the signs are subtle, chronic, and easily dismissed:- Bloating, gas, diarrhea or constipation
- Fatigue and aching
- Brain fog or poor memory
- Sleep issues
- Skin problems like eczema, acne, or rashes
- Anxiety or depression
- Sugar cravings
- Bad breath
- Food intolerances
- Autoimmune flare-ups
- Weight gain or inability to lose weight
If you’ve been trying to fix your gut and nothing is working… parasites may be the missing link.
Your Doctor Might Not Believe You
Conventional medicine rarely considers parasites unless you’ve returned from a jungle trip with severe diarrhea, and even then, your doctor may roll their eyes at you and give you a hard time for consulting “Dr. Google.”
It’s also important to know that standard stool tests can miss more than half of parasitic infections. Some parasites can hide effectively behind biofilms or deep in the gut lining. Others come and go in cycles. You can definitely test negative and still have parasites.
It’s a good idea to consider a parasite cleanse even without positive test results—especially if you’ve got the symptoms or think you have been exposed.
What You Can Do About It
You don’t need harsh pharmaceutical meds to get rid of parasites. There are many safe, effective alternative formulas that can:- Kill parasites at multiple stages of their life cycle
- Break down biofilms
- Flush out eggs and debris
- Support detox organs like the liver and lymph
- Repair the gut lining
- Restore a healthy microbiome
I won’t lie, it’s not always comfortable. You might feel worse before you feel better (I sure did). But the results are so worth it.
The Bottom Line
Parasites are real, and they’re much more common than most people (and doctors) believe. If you’ve been feeling off… bloated, tired, foggy, inflamed… these tiny organisms may be sabotaging your health.
Now that I’ve been through the process myself, I can say with confidence: Your gut (and your whole body) can heal.
Get rid of anything that doesn’t belong in your body and could be stealing your health and energy. You will be glad you did!
While on the topic of parasites you’ve got to see this eye opening video…
4 Signs That Parasites Are Living In Your Body (See The Symptoms)
If you’re reading this in a room with another person, chances are good one of you has it right now.

Studies show it can cause joint pain, digestive issues, weight gain, brain fog, insomnia, and more.
Sadly, most doctors wouldn’t recognize it, even if it walked up and hit them on the head.
