“I Was Being Used by the Devil”: The New Age Lie Finally Exposed
“I was being used by the devil.” Those are not the words of a fringe figure. They are the confession of Doreen Virtue, a woman who once stood at the very center of the New Age movement. For decades, she was one of its most influential voices, known worldwide for angel cards, spirit guidance, and teachings that promised peace without repentance and power without God.
Her collapse did not begin with emotion. It began with Scripture.
When Doreen read Deuteronomy 18:10–12, she was confronted with something the New Age never allows room for: God’s authority. The passage does not soften its language. Divination, spirit communication, and occult practices are not misunderstood tools of enlightenment. God calls them detestable. Dangerous. Sin.
In that moment, she realized the “angels” she believed were guiding her were not from God at all. What she once called light was exposed as deception. The spirituality that promised empowerment had quietly replaced repentance. The focus on “inner divinity” had removed the need for a Savior.
Doreen later shared that she fell to her knees, weeping, and asked Jesus Christ to take over her life. Not as an energy. Not as a guide. As Lord. That surrender cost her everything the New Age had given her. She began removing her name from her products, dismantling her platform, and warning others about the spiritual dangers she once promoted.
Her testimony cuts through modern spirituality with brutal clarity. There is no universal energy that redeems sin. There is no higher self that can save you. There is only Christ. The New Age offers signs. Jesus offers truth. One flatters the ego. The other rescues the soul.
Stop seeking signs.
Start seeking the Savior.
