HE WAS A GANG WARLORD. HE SLAPPED A PREACHER. NOW HE PREACHES TO MILLIONS.
The boy who would one day lead one of New York's most feared gangs was sent away from home when he was fifteen.
His name is Nicky Cruz. He was born on December 6, 1938, in Puerto Rico. By his own account, his parents were deeply involved in the occult religion of Santería, and they told him he was the son of Satan. He says they abused him. At fifteen, they sent him to live with his brother in New York City.
He did not stay. He ran away and lived on the streets of Brooklyn. Before long, he joined a gang called the Mau Maus. About six months later, he was made their warlord.
He was fearless. He later wrote that he stabbed sixteen people while he was a member. By the time he was sixteen, he led one of the most dreaded gangs in the city.
In 1958, a young country preacher from Pennsylvania named David Wilkerson came to New York. He had seen a story in Life magazine about seven teenagers on trial for murder, and he felt called to go to the city and reach young people like them. He walked into the neighborhoods the gangs controlled, a skinny preacher with a Bible and no protection.
One day, he walked up to Nicky Cruz.
Nicky slapped him. He threatened to kill him.
Wilkerson did not run. He came back. He tried again, and he got the same answer. But the preacher refused to give up on him.
Then Wilkerson organized a meeting to reach the Mau Maus. Nicky came. After the preaching, Wilkerson asked the gang to take up a collection. Nicky volunteered, and he led a group of gang members through the crowd, insisting people give.
Something happened to him that night. Wilkerson prayed with him, and Nicky asked God to forgive him. By his account, the hate and violence that had driven him seemed to go away.
What he did next shocked people. Nicky and some of the gang members who had been converted went to the police and turned in their bricks, handguns and knives. The officers at the station were stunned.
He studied the Bible and went to Bible college. He worked with Wilkerson in Teen Challenge, the recovery program Wilkerson had founded in Brooklyn in 1958. And he went back to his old neighborhood, the place that had been his territory, and preached. More Mau Maus gave their lives to Christ, including the gang's new leader, Israel Narvaez.
In 1968, he told his story in a book called Run Baby Run. It has been translated into more than forty languages, and it is still read today. He later founded Nicky Cruz Outreach, an evangelism ministry. His ministry says he has preached in more than 80 countries and has spoken in person to an estimated tens of millions of people.
"If it weren't for David Wilkerson," Nicky has said, "I'd be in the pit of hell today."
Lessons From His Story:
- Someone's worst moment is not the end of their story
- Love sometimes has to come back more than once
- A person who has done terrible things can still be changed
- Even a slap and a threat cannot stop a man who is following his calling

Evangelicalism doesnt get there . It leaves the soul untouched inside the Genesis 3 self strutting soul delusion . They don't even obey the first day command of being baptised in the Spirit . They dont really hand over their control spirit and mind to God the Holy Spirit . But that is what Golgotha means . Place of the Skull. Romans 12.2.
Evangelicals dont hand over their members properly in Romans 12.1. They keep a chain attached to their head so that after the meeting they can pull the chain back and keep their head intact .
The Charismatic realm doesn't get there .
Yes a lot of time they rely on the Holy Spirit but they manifest Genesis 3.
If we don't fall into the ground and die we dwell alone . Ministries are solo all over the world .
They haven't died . High streets are filled with pyramid churches under one Pharoah who say ' this is My Church '
Now like kids growing up ....ministry has similarities ....while we are learning to walk , talk , eat , poop , learn to write , learn outer forms of socialisation.....we have to focus on us getting these skills .
We learn to pray. We learn to evangelise . We learn some of the gifts of the Spirit . We learn our work life in God . We learn our father / mother roles in God .
But thirdlevel is the Cross to every last trace of abandoned orphan soul that still replays the devils Genesis 3 lie .
It means we start finding each other .1 Corinthians 12 :14-26. Or the book " Surrounded by Idiots( not )" . We begin to discern the Body of Christ . We walk as one ecclesia under One Head.
We don't do heirrchy stupidity like the heirarchy churches . We don't do fleshly pastor kings .
We have a single eye and we have a Melchizedek⁰ King Priest .
This is the start of Kingdom on earth . The pillar and ground of truth , and not the Genesis 3 lie delusion.

There was a very difficult man in his church. He seemed to make it his life’s work to criticize everything the pastor did..
Mr. difficult was at my friend’s house and my Pastor friend was trying to talk and reason with him for about two hours. Just going in circles.
Suddenly (pastors) his wife came down the stairs, walked right up to the difficult man and Said “ shape up, or ship out.”
There was silence. Then the man got up and kind of marched to the door and went out.. They thought that that was the end of him..
At about five minutes later, Mr. difficult came back in the door, went and sat down, and said, “ Ok I’m shaped up.” they never did really have any more problems with him..
Sometimes you can talk, reason, pray and never get anywhere. You’re going to have to have a confrontation..
Personally, I don’t mind confrontations, they don’t bother me at all. You can shout and scream and jump up and down. It wouldn’t bother me and you wouldn’t get any reaction from me.. other people get very emotionally involved, that’s why they can’t do confrontation.
If you live in the truth you’re going to have confrontations sometimes. But you don’t have to be personally emotionally involved.. if it concerns Truth then it’s not your personal problem is it?
If it’s a personal problem, then you shouldn’t be in it anyway. What’s the point?
You know, the old man was crucified with Christ, if you believe Roman six. You can walk in the new man who is able to stay in the spirit..
What’s one of the biggest wiles of the enemy? It’s to get you out of the spirit.. to get your mind and your emotions, and in your own self.( the old man.) so then the devil just tricked you because you don’t have any power or authority outside of the Holy Spirit.

Years ago. When we were pastoring a church in Orlando, we inherited a couple of elders from the previous pastors. One of them was like a Nazi, kind of person.. very religious. Very demanding., didn’t like women, especially he didn’t like me because I got all the women. in the spirit and having a good time., prophesying, signing and dancing and laughing and even wearing makeup.
He was very angry with me He called my husband To complain about me, but David told him he was just jealous because I had more anointing than he did.. well that made him twice as angry and he wanted to meet with me. David told me not to go, but I said. “ I don’t mind going he doesn’t bother me.. a lot of people were quite scared of this man. He was fairly fierce..
I went down to the Church office to meet with him.
He was seated behind a big desk and I sat there while he started off, scolding me, and because I wasn’t crying, he raised his voice and started yelling. Well, this angel came around and started tickling me, and I was trying my best not to laugh because I knew he would be out of his mind if I laughed
But I was smiling and the more I smiled, the louder as he got, and in the end, I was trying to tell the Angel to stop tickling me, but he just carried on more, so in the end, I just burst out laughing.
The guy didn’t know what to do with himself, he was beyond outrage. I really think that there hadn’t been a desk between us. He probably would’ve hit me.
He just marched out the door and slammed the door so hard the building shook.
Well, that’s one way to have a confrontation. I’m just saying tonight to get your attention on your lovely savior and off of yourself.. remember the old man was crucified with Christ. You don’t have to live in that realm.
