 Eric was going to commit suicide but praise God George Okoth my Co worker of REDIM CBO a non profit Community organization he counseled him and told them to go to the mountain to pray and whilst I was with them praying and reading the Bible my friend Chris Welch had sent me some money and it was just the right amount to pay for his first term of national school and that encouraged his Dad to pay for him too as he cant read and write and didn't value education but he does now and see how important it is for Eric to go to school . Now he passed his secondary school final exams and wants to go to college but he has no money so am asking for people to sponsor him. Also Morris and John his two step brothers in the same situation. they would be among the first to go to college in their community inbox me if you can help.

Casualties of Malaria

Over the past two years we have used money from our own
pockets, FB friends and also from Chief Constable Matt Baggott’s charity which
shall end once he has retired from the Police Force later this year. This money
has helped us achieve so many things, the provision of Sanitary towels for
girls in both primary and secondary schools in Suba west, and on one occasion
we provided 998 girls with Always Pads with the help of football club Gor Kogano
NGO dealing with Girls Child Education. We have also documented all the
challenges girls face e.g. lack of school fees, school books, pocket money and
even mendazies that leads them to prostitute themselves for very little money
which then finds the girl pregnant, having HIV/AIDS, often leading to abortion
, early marriages leading to Girl’s child school dropout. To highlight their
challenges we have walked part way up Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and had several
football tournaments for girls raising their profile as being just as much entitled
to education as boys.

The outcome from just empowerment of girls in school and
fundraising for school fees is that in Kihoru Primary school in 2013 there were
more girls in class 8 then boys, where normally it’s the other way round and we
fund raised for a girl to go to University. Another programme within girl’s
child was to sponsor a school girl whose baby had club feet. We supported
Mother and child for over four months taking the baby every week to firstly
Migori Hospital and later Kisi a four hour round trip to straighten the Childs
feet with positive results thanks to an American sponsor. More recently when a
16 year old class 8 primary school girl aborted a five month foetus the child
lived and we saved the life of Jeremiah and empowered the mother and the whole
family by taking the mum and child to hospital paying for the hospital bill C/O
another FB friend and also of the young girl’s mother who previously ground a
bottle of glass and drank it to try and take her life due to so many problems
including having a husband whose an alcoholic. We preached the Gospel to the
Father and the mother of the school girl and they come to Makongeni Church now
every week.

Due to the challenges of so many pregnancies and school drop
outs , we have been taking round Primary and secondary schools school the
Education box donated by SPUC ( Society
Protecting The Unborn Child ) showing various stages of the development of the
unborn foetus to show that life begins at conception not birth and to explain
that the pregnancy is God given life in his image and you aren’t aborting a
nothing but life. This has really impacted both boys and girls in the schools
as they talked about how the girls use OMO detergent, Blue washing powder,
concentrated tea leaves and Orange cordial to abort the baby or the use traditional
herbs and witchcraft. The parents are normally very harsh with the daughters
and so they create fear and the young girls are also fearful that they will be
chased from school whilst the father of the baby doesn’t want the
responsibility and often sells a chicken to pay for the back street methods to
abort the child. We have even taken the box to Migori prison and taught both
female and male prisoners about the effects of bad parenting and abortion.

During the last year we have preached to many changa
drinkers whose lives have been destroyed by the illicit alcohol and led them to the Lord and then empowered then
by buying seeds for the farm and clothes as
well supporting them as have the church of Makongeni. Such transformation
has seen a big drop in crime in Chungni village and the surrounding areas of
Malera, Kihoru, Marabiko Kokendie.............

We have a Braille Library thanks to Torch for the Blind and
there’s also large print and Cassettes...that have stayed in our office which
we have said are to be lent out to those who are visually impaired in the community.
We have also given a number of the literature away to various disabled groups and the Minister of
Education Social Services and Gender....

Our church Makongeni started under a tree and then moved to
a small mud hut but when I arrived God told me to build a church and when we
put the posts in we were exactly 100 by 50 and people didn’t believe me but I
knew God would do it so me and Georges Mum Margaret and Cyprian Georges brother
knocked the church down the mud hut and so they had to move from Egypt and now
to Canaan. In two years we have built the brick work and now we are having the
roof, we have trees thanks to a another FB friend and all we have to do is cut
them and get 200 iron sheets for the roof and then windows and doors....we have
been to the mountain so many times to pray and seek the face of God and he has
always answered in more ways than you can ever imagine..

The first year here in Chungni we built a clinic and a
labour ward thanks to so many people from FB and Dr Skehan from Leicester Groby
Road Hospital.. And a Face book friend paid for a job lot of medicine it really
helped our community. Before we had the clinic so and many people died of malaria
and typhoid and child related diseases because they couldn’t go to hospital because
of lack of money they had no money to travel 25km. Our clinic has prevented so
many children dying and also adults. When I first arrived a young man was
stabbed in the leg by a bull horn as he looked after them we only had cello tape
to stick the cotton wool pad to the leg but FB friends enabled people to have
proper treatment... later on after prayer we had a labour couch bought us by a
sponsor and a drip stand and a screen so God answered our prayers we had been
praying for over a year.

After the first six months whilst I was away a very close friend
of mine David Ochieng died of HIV Aids and left four children he was a cousin of
George and so for the past few years they have been supported by FB friends as
the two eldest children are very bright and are both first and second in their
years.

We have helped so many children with schools fees and once
we supported a man with a coffin for his daughter as he had no money to buy one.
Recently Justice a drunkard aged 36 who came to Lord was fed up working in the
gold mine and so we sponsored him to go back to secondary school and he is
doing very well.

One of my favourite Ministries is prison and we have been
going to Migori Prison for two years more or less just a couple of times of
year as it costs £70 by the time you pay for the transport, food as for Africans
its a must, things for the prisoners like soap and snacks plus sanitary towels etc and petrol, but of
late I have become friends with the Chaplin Pastor Peter Ayuka and he is a very
special man as he and his wife look after the women prisoners children why they
are serving their sentence and lets churches visit prisoners on a Sunday, When
we have money we take ex Changa men to give their testimonies to not only empower the prisoners but these new Christian
like Challis who served many years in Migori prison as he was a murderer and lived
like an animal I found him, caned on the road and we took him to a cafe led him
to the Lord gave him clothes and then seeds, he is now a member or Makongeni
Church and a father, husband and a great farmer. Over the past few months
thanks to my host George who has been free to let me visit the prison whilst Pastor Peter the prison chaplain and missionary
has encouraged me to visit the women prisoners
and teach them. On women’s day myself and ex chang’a brewer who served time in Kisi
prison helped the women to plant trees in the Migori prison ground to remember
aborted babies, still birth and miscarried foetus its was a wonderful time and
then we preached and sang afterwards to empower the women who are normally victims
of poverty who have no alternative than brew changa and sell drugs. Thanks to
FB friends we have bought trees and now they are building a baptismal pool for
the first baptism in the prison with 57 men and women on April 20th.
On the 18th I will be going with Evelyn and George to wash the feet
of the women prisoners. Other times we have taken Rev Michael Cameron from UK /
Nigeria and he spoke about the prodigal son and hugged
many of the men. I had the privilege of being able to see an English man in the
prison awaiting trial really wonderful opportunities..I am hoping to get a
Prison permit so I can visit other prisons in Kenya...

We have been to many burials as a church and preached the
Gospel and so many are young people last year at least four young men committed
suicide in school fee related incidents, last week two young children from our
church died of malaria which was very painful for me and as a church one being
named after me Elaine Waterfield aged 2 and the pastors daughter.

The most
disturbing was when baby Paul died he was born with HV/AIDS and was so malnourished
FB sent me money to give him milk and clothes, thankfully his dad once a change
drinker but now born again managed to get an NGO to help with special food for
the baby. The last time i saw him he looked like a normal baby but he was dead
the disease totally destroyed him. His Mum Maureen only 21 died of the disease
and so John and Agnes had such a terrible year their son zone aged 6 burned his
face severely on a fire, Maureen and baby Paul died and the father had to sell
his land to pay for another child’s hospital bill due to malaria but John
experienced the grace and love of God in provision.

Our other projects are finishing the well for fresh water, a
school for the blind and a rehab, and we really need a vehicle as we have out
grown our motor bike.

Where we have reached as an Organisation is that unless we
receive sponsorship from a Donor or from a charity or a Church we cannot
progress with the vision that God has given us. We have struggled with a few
pounds and a couple of hundred but to make any real progress we need a few
thousand pounds to
GOALS
1.
Revamp the ex alcoholics group so that they can
be disciple and also provided with a small amount of money to start their own business.
Kennedy once called Neto when he used to be a fisherman down the lake, has been
dry for nearly a year and is now the building director and he has just started
to work as a barber for someone else but if he had £50 he could start his own
business and do well... each member who used to be once an ex alcoholic needs
money to start a small business and encouraged and helped as they went along.
We did help Challis at first but money dried up and so we had to stop helping him
and of late he has stopped coming to church.

2.
We want to have a seminar at the local school
for parents and students, Minister of Education, local Chief, Prison Chaplain
and minister of health and social services to discuss and address the problems
of early pregnancy and abortion, empowering parents, offering counselling and
having a procedure with various integrated services as to what happens when a
girl is pregnant and the way forward for their continued education. Not
forgetting the consequences of parents encouraging abortion and the murder of a
foetus. We need a group like SPUC (Society Protecting the unborn Child) to
provide us as a Charitable Organisation, with money for the seminar as what we
do comes from our own pocket limiting what’s really needed.



3.We need donors to fund the
building a school for the blind and trainings along with an orphanage So many
children here are disabled and their parents hide them away thinking they are a
curse. The nearest blind school is a four hour bus ride away near Kisumu by
Lake Victoria. We need this school and training to enable the children to learn
how to read and write Braille and therefore the wonderful Braille literature will
then be used rather than gather dust. We also need to train teachers and
volunteers how to read and write with Braille.

4. We are looking to build a
rehab for we have a really high number of substance users who need to stop
drinking dealing with their addictions using HTB 12 step programme, transformed
meetings and Biblical teaching prayer and praise. Then they need to be trained
in carpentry, tailoring, agriculture and stone masonry and work for their rehabilitation
there isn’t a rehab with in Suna location

5. We need donors to provide
school fees for the most vulnerable school girls with school fees and sanitary towels
the sustainability is impossible with just a few pounds

6. We are looking to continue
with prison ministry and the Chaplain is looking for funding to provide school
fees for the children he looks after belonging to the women prisoners plus food
and clothes, and Peters heart is very much for a chapel for the prisoners as
they only have provision of the sleeping rooms to hold services at the minute..The
women also need a DVD and television to play Christian DVDs and music.

7. We desperately need a Vehicle
we have out grown the pikki pikki motor bike and it will be so useful where we
live in the rural.

8. The church needs to be
finished and we need Bibles in the Luo and Swahili, instruments and chairs, a lectern
and so many things you need in a church.

9.We need more medicine as we have
little stock left and lots of things that we haven’t remembered

But without
donors and money we are simply at a standstill because we have done all the
research and written reports and visited schools, various groups, but now we
need to empower the people and provide the sanitary towels, the school fees,
the small loans for businesses and items to take to the prison like detol soap
and mats for 400 prisoners to sit on, we need money for the transport and the building
and the trainings. At the moment we are struggling to keep going and work has
to stop because we are just giving empty promises we gave over two years ago.. People
are dying of HIV/AIDS and through ignorance; people are starving and are not
being educated....we also need to feed ourselves and put clothes on out back but

We have a heart for the people..and what we do
comes from a vision God gave George ten years ago and me two and a half years
ago he also told us to be two disciples to feed his sheep and he called me to
love people not to like them look over what you see in the natural and see with
Jesus eyes in the spiritual... what we do is for the kingdom and taking up our
cross was never going to easy its about endurance and obedience to the King of
kings alive and not dead.

THEMSELVES WHAT GOD IS DOING IN THIS REMOTE AREA AND WE STILL NEED TO PREACH
THE GOSPEL OF THE GOOD NEWS THAT JESUS IS ALIVE AND NOT DEAD AND THAT THROUGH
HIM WE CAN BE SAVED, RESTORED HEALED AND TRANSFORMED

Dear friends and supporters of REDIM we would like to thank you so much for all your prayers and support in 2013 and may God bless you ...

I have heard from sponsors that its confusing as to what we are doing as an Organization as we have been doing a lot.

1. REDIM have two major projects firstly we are looking in to developing a project for a rehab which is so needed in Migori County. We have led many men and women to the Lord but yet addiction and drug trafficking is rife here in Migori country especially as we are so close to the Border of Tanzania. Ages of substance abuse range from 10 - 70 plus. The rehab will have a training facility to get these people into work and back in to their community.

Another aspect of this work is to go into prison as a church and teach men and women the Gospel and give them empowerment with teaching about how we are one with Christ and as we are waek he is strong and who we are in Christ having freedom and love from the father . As I taught the women about abortion we also planted trees in remembrance of the children they had aborted of lost with abortion, still birth and miscarriage and it was indeed a wonderful day.
The Chaplain is really looking into building a chapel for the 400 prisoners instead of sitting in their wings on the cold stone.costing three thousand pounds. they also need mats for the prisoners to sit on costing three hundred pounds

2. We are also finishing off the first classroom for the beginnings of an orphanage and facility for a school/ training center for the blind, which the Migori Minister of Education and Social services have shown a great interest in. So many Children here are disabled and are visually sighted. Their parents treat them like second a curse from God and shut them away in their house, yet many are very bright they just need training in braille how to read and write with this method..this school will empower and train orphans with one or no parents whilst it will train visually sighted children and offer them a way into further Education

Whats been hapening in Chungni

Makongeni church had a fund raising which REDIM helped find sponsors and they raised just under a thousand pounds to continue finishing off the brick work and buying the wood for the roof. We will be having a further fund raising even In June so we can buy the iron sheets windows and doors. We really saw the hand of God in the provision for our Church Makongeni and we just need a further two thousand pounds to finish the work off

It has been a great blessing also to visit the local schools / Migori women’s prison with Educational box from
SPUC (Society Protecting the unborn child ) which they donated to our work. We found that because of poverty girls were prostituting themselves for little money for sanitary towels and school fees, etc when they got pregnant they couldn't tell their parents through fear of their pregnancy so they either hid the pregnancy until it was too late or got the father of the child to sell a chicken so that the child could buy strong tea leaves concentrated orange juice or OMO detergent which rots the baby and destroys the mothers womb and can even kill her. So it was a privileged to teach the young girls about all this and hear of all the struggles they go through. The solution is for their school fees to be paid and provision of sanitary towels we have stopped doing this as we have no funding.

We would like to invite you to come to see our project and come and help us in our work, we would value doctors nurses and preachers, evangelists, builders, teams from churches and people who have a prison ministry

Here in Migori we are struggling with lack of maize the main stable food they eat because of drought, and also lack of water as there has been no rain for such a long times uo and until the last few days so thats an answer to prayer and its has effected us greatly.

Our prayer needs, a vehicle, personal sponsorship , 400,000gbp for the orphange / school for the blind/ training,
and also people,who we can contact with the proposal for the blind school and rehab.I need a return ticket back to Kenya to either UK or USA by the end of April. That our church will be finished and many more people will come to Christ. That George gets his wages from his consultancy work and my debt will be paid off. The Migori prison chapel will be funded. The water well need finishing off we are lacking two hundred pounds to finish it off. plus we need money for drugs for the clinic .

Grandad, what did you achieve between 2011-2014?

Elaine Waterfield kindly fills us in on what has been going on in the last 3 years in Kenya.

....yes we have worked tirelessly and with great faith but with little we need support and prayer in with the vision GOD has given
With all the struggles God has enable us to do a lot and achieve more than we could imagine, without any church and Funding organization from the west our God has proved to us that He is the provider, Many missionaries and organizations have big church and donors backing them but thanks to God we have worked with Elaine Waterfield for more than two years without any Family, church or organization back up our organization REDIM also have not got any funding yet. Thanks to friends that have stood with us both individually and in supporting the work we are doing.. In faith and with your support we have achieved supporting 20 students in their education, built a clinic and a labour ward, church brick wall, empowered girls in their education, visit prisoner with the Gospel, organized revivals and now started building an orphanage school integrated with school for the blind and vocational training wing for youths who cannot carry on with further education. We have reached appoint of no alternative as we need to do these projects (orphanage and school for the blind ) and a vehicle and these need support Lord we are in your will and we cannot but you able touch somebody, church, organization, charity or company to donate towards these needs. AMEN.

The problem is why I am tired why i struggle and why I suffer greatly is because I have no sponsorship with what I am doing what I do comes from my own back pocket Gods provision and my supportive FB friends , recently I went to an NGO who does the same work and sponsers have

provided them with cars tractors and wages and a great complex. They are given 17 million KS a year to support a school. Me i have £170 per month, people say I am a scrounger and yet I have done so much work here voluntary and I love to do it unto the Lord but you need funding encouraging

personal sponsorship appreciation and prayer. With lack pf funds I am in personal debt and I am really praying for a donor and a sponsor for this work God has sent me to do to carry on.

Now its a continuous headache the people here think of me like I am loaded as an NGO but I am a widow . I used to feel guilty for complaining but after seeing Green Forrest NGO in Gwassi I realized why I am struggling tired and often want to give up and go back to the UK but if i was supported then what a difference that would be. even to have a vehicle instead of a motor bike.

With an NGO they have a vehcle and a driver and food and appreciation money to do all the things that is needed. Thats why Goerge had to go back to work and be a consultant in Gwassi for green forest because for three weeks it was insufficient funds at the ATM and he felt ashamed .... but God has brought me here and we are seeing the mighty hand of God but with support how much better it would be OH GOD LORD SEND ALL WE NEED TODAY SO WE CAN COnTINUE WITH THE WORK...

Finances are needed as direct gifts.

Or you may want to be a FINANCIAL ANGEL, where you are either giving or loaning money to a central fund to be administered by trustworthy people locally in Suna area, as revolving loans for establishing new enterprises.

Kingdom Giving is a revelation like everything in the Kingdom. If you think you understand something, you probably don't.

If you have a need or desire for something that you feel has come from God, then unlike most Brits reacting to a fleshy version of Seed faith practiced in the States, IT IS PERFECTLY FINE to sow money into the Kingdom then believe God to answer the need that is on your heart. We ARE to test God in this. Most Brits have this inner fear lest God doesn't show up, so like the servant who buries his talent in the ground...because " I thought you were a hard master"....they flunk out and say religiously.....

Oh well I'll give to Elaine, but because I'm righteous I don't expect God to give anything back because that would be selfish.

If God is in you, and He is expressing His desires and wants in you, then those things on your heart are precious and not selfish....but like all things we receive by faith...BUT FIRST AND FOREMOST we give for the expansion of the Kingdom.

Tithing is crap, not because giving is crap, but it feeds your stupid belief that God hasn't nailed all demands of the Old Covenant to the Cross. We don't "do" anything for Jesus to get righteousness....we are so superawed that God invaded our lives at all and GAVE us His Righteousness that we want everyone to know about it...and it's helpful if they are still alive first to hear it !!!! We LOVE because He first loved us.

The people DOING the Kingdom stuff don't get supported. The people NOT doing the Kingdom stuff get put into leadership positions in costly buildings that drain all the saints' finances. Who do you think Jewishbusinessmen derive their shrewdness and business acumen from? GOD DEMANDS FRUITFULNESS, because HIS SON IN US is fruitful. If it was up to us, God would let us off. But He has invested Jesus inside us, and demands Jesus sized fruit. Call it the Father's JESUS BANK......US.

And He demands THIRTY, SIXTY AND HUNDRED FOLD FRUITFULNESS...because His Son really is that fruitful!!!!

When I first came to Chungni as a Missionary one of the first things that God told me to do was seek the face of God with the church up the Mountain. This started when I used to live in Homa Bay with the first Ministry I served with, were they would climb Asago Mountain. It was here that George had a vision of my coming with many people behind me and Joshua the leader of the Ministry prophesied that I would be a missionary in Suna.
The first time I climbed that mountain people thought I would never reach the top as I was overweight and white and they made a big issue out of my size and mocked me even to the point of taking photographs. But with faith and the encouragement of George who is now my host and Mary the wife of Pastor Moses, plus listening to Godfrey Birtill worship music, I got to the top. I really couldn’t help but jump up and down clapping my hands with such an achievement  and prayed. What man didn’t think I would ever do with God I did it.
  In the Bible many Old Testament Characters especially leaders like Moses would seek the face of God up the mountain. Not that God isn’t everywhere it’s just the sense of you making the effort to seek the face of God and sometimes as for me in the early days it was a struggle but I did this in faith, its not so much about the the mountain but the fact you stopped work, stopped everything to go to the mountain and seek Him. This is why I always read Psalm 24 every time we go there.
Anyway it was at the mountain in Suna that God told me that we needed a big church building and after sharing this with Makongeni church we had a special day of prayer and praise over the Egypt church. Makongeni Church first began under a tree then progressed to a small mud hut and now it was time to move again. We sang and prayed and I took four pegs and placed them in the ground where God had told me to put them and when we measured it was exactly 100 by 50. I got four groups of church members to pray at each corner where the peg was placed and speak out in faith that God would provide and read Psalm 24.
 In the ground were many huge stones in the way however we had planned another day to dig the foundation of this new church and remove all the stones. This we did with hard work singing and praising the living God. It brought great hope and faith, but still the thought of a brick church costing a million and a half Kenyan Shillings was just a vision I don’t think that they ever thought it would come to pass.
I did tell them the next stage was to knock down the old mud church ( Egypt ) and move to the site of the new church  (canan ) but they didn’t  listen. Therefore one day I took a jemby with Cyprian        ( Georges Brother ) and we began to knock it down, wondering what the leaders would do I was surprised that they joined in and we completely knocked the mud house down even Patrick  helped us. Patrick’s faith was dwindling at that point but since he has realised that God was doing a new thing faith has arised in not just him but many others. Some members were shocked but this is what God told me to do and we soon built another bigger mud hut next to the new church foundation.
We began raising funds and God would provide money miraculously. On the way back to Kenya in November 2012 I had two heavy cases filled with football kit and medicine clothes and tambourines. I should have paid excess baggage but the lady at the desk told me to even the weight in both cases and let me through. The money I had saved from not paying excess I used for the church building. After a long procedure of making bricks using donkey s for the sand and bull and cart for the stones and women carrying water on their head,  we made the foundation. After more visits to the mountain praying and praising God plus fund raising , we began the work of building the brick church and very quickly we had the the first part of the church raised .
 However at the mountain we also have been praying for two years for instruments and sound system because without them the only alternative was clapping which for me sometimes is a nightmare. I had bought a key board for £14.00 but it didn’t project the sound powerfully enough and so it’s been left in the corner of my house unused. I had brought tambourines and marakers which was a start, but how we longed for a powerful key board and sound system so that the choir and the youth could really praise God and encourage people to come. Also Morris Georges brother is a skilled musician and a key board player but he used to go to REJOICE another church and said he would only come to Makongeni if and when he could play keyboard.
Another prayer at the mountain was God to provide BIBLES in Lou and Swahili because how can people get to know the word of God without Bibles and especially the changa men who had come to Christ which also started from a prayer at the mountain my first New Years Eve in Suna in 2011.. I have bought English Bibles and have been given Gideon’s Bibles but that was pointless as most people can’t read and they can’t read English. My prayer is that the Gideon’s Publish Bibles in all tribal languages in Africa and give them away free, as the people really desire the Word of God

The hotel we stayed at was beautiful the reason why I say this was because for two year I have been living mostly in a mud hut. No carpets, no wallpaper, no running water you have to either collect rain water or go to the river and carry it on your head, and for a year and a half we had no electric just a tilly lamp. The toilet was just a hole in the floor outside. When you squat over the hole, bats come out underneath you and armies of marching ants would cover you and really bite. One time there was a snake in the CHO as they call toilets here, so it was very unpleasant and when we have no money for toilet paper we have to use leaves.
When I had a wash for most of the first year I had one bucket to use as over night to pee and poo in and then you would have to wash in it and wash your clothes by hand and with no light you wouldn’t see what you were doing and got in mess when you were sick with malaria and typhoid. My hair gets matted with red dust and my feet are all cracked walking on the floor with no shoes. I even went to bed with muddy feet as there’s no water to wash them in the dry season.
One day at the mountain when we were praying for the church building and for a visitor who was coming to our Convention in December, God really spoke to me in Micah 7 how God will visit us. There were only five of us there and yet how awesome it was for God to tell us such a proclamation.
My testimony of Gods saving grace and answers to prayer is that I had been under a lot of spiritual warfare, incredible struggles and I wondered where God was. On the way to a hotel where I had been invited to a dance I heard a preacher saying “Don’t you think I know your needs before I ask you? Don’t you trust me? “and it was as though God were speaking to me directly. That night I went to a dance with some hotel staff and had my drink spiked and was robbed and badly treated. A terrible experience that made me realise that I wanted Jesus in my life and didn’t want to end up being back slidden like I had been for twenty years previously and I knew that I wanted to live my life for Jesus and  God was about to really show me that yes he did know what we needed even before creation as God planned it even way back then.
God told me to ask Mike if he could come to visit us before December to help and advise us and expose him to what God is doing here in Suna. Surprisingly he said yes so we began to plaster Georges Mud hut and I spent a long time painting it and we put a toilet in my new brick house in his honour. I also preached on giving as here in Africa because people have a dependency syndrome where they rely and expect money from whites  but God teaches  us in the Bible we must give and receive. We had wanted to have some conventions in various places and so we organised three teams Malera and Ruberry and Kihoru to have Conventions and provide food for Mike. This was a miracle because these people are starving with little to eat themselves having  many children and struggle to pay school fees  so for them to cook a chicken was a sacrifice. Normally these people only eat vegetables.

Mike was to come on the Tuesday and so George and myself went on an overnight Bus to Nairobi. This  was a miracle as there were no seats on the buses in all of Migori because students were going back to university and every seat was taken. However our friend Alice a Chemist Assistant spoke to Transline bus service and they put another bus on, amen else the next available seat was the night Mike was landing.
He on the other hand had been given a lot of important work yet he was faithful and said he would still come to that and that’s what you call sacrifice for God.
Back to the Transline after all the worry over getting a seat as we got on the bus and I felt a hand in my bag. As I turned round and there was man staring at me, had I have made a noise he would have been stoned to death or had a tyre put round his neck and set alight  on the spot so I remained silent even though he stole a large amount of money which was to send ay Elaine to hospital and have shoes fitted after treatment of club feet , as well as surgery for a  mans tumours to be removed from his face. Even baby Elaine’s medical cards were stolen.. but what can you do ? I just praised God that he hadn’t taken my bank card and other money.
The airport arrivals was chaotic because a while ago Nairobi Arrival Lounge was burned down and there were tents in different arrears  according  to the airways, but we had got to the right place of Kenyan Airways arrival so it wasn’t as confusing as we had imagined and we soon greeted Mike and was so nice to meet him a miracle infact.

`My worst night  in Chungni was when marching ants were on the war path and there were hundreds of spiders in my bedroom and flies everything you could  possibly imagine. I could describe it as “ I am celebrity get me out of here” your worst nightmare but with God and some oil I put at the door and bottom of the bed I was fine. So sleeping in a nice bed and having a bath with light without bugs and flies was WOW a miracle. Everything I used to take for granted was now a luxury.
Even at breakfast I cried the tears were really pouring down my face, there was salmon and cheese and bread sticks, coffee, juice and butter etc things I had never seen or tasted for a year. Most of  the food on the menu was just the normal run of the mill in UK, but here in Chungni our food is  very bland and inedible things for me like chickens heads and feet, the chicken is so rubbery, if you don’t cook the meat well you get tape worms and when we have no money we have maize bread and local vegetables and typhoid water. Sometimes my urine is so dark through lack of water and dehydration … which is why Mike bought me several big bottles of water and a pump. Wow another miracle and truly appreciated.
After a delouse breakfast we went to town and Mike bought some medical equipment for our clinic another answer to two years of prayer, and I bought 17 bibles in Luo and Swahili language and a few English Bibles for Makongeni church. In UK we have Gideon’s who give Bibles away for free and yet here were people are getting saved in rural areas by the dozen to buy a Bible is so expensive and many never and I mean NEVER get to read the word of God. Why the Gideon’s don’t blitz the rural areas of Kenya is beyond me so Dad hear our hearts cry.
To actually have a white person for company who could speak my language was awesome as most of the day people speak in Luo and so I end up talking to the wall and the floor and the table. People can speak English but they tend to revert back to their natural mother tongue. Even during preaching even I can’t help but speak a few words here and there in the Luo. I also spend long periods of time on my own so to have company was definitely a miracle.
On the way back from Nairobi to Migori I really prayed that God will provide an International Airport near to Migori as its eight hours away to Nairobi a long ardours journey for guests and even us it just makes you stressed and tired.. Especially at the end when the bus makes so many stops you think to yourself will this journey never ever end.

In the past so many people had said that they would come but they never came and its totally let the community down very badly and but most of all they lose hope. However Mikes coming brought hope and answers to so many prayers that we had prayed up the mountain. The meeting went really well and everyone was in awe that our visitor Mike had come and brought an anointing and a powerful word of God.
In the morning we went to the mountain it’s a wonderful experience as you look over the valley of Suna West. There was George, myself Mike, Pastor Sani, Margret, Jane, janes, Uma, Nelson, John, Rose, Tobias, Neto, Prisca, and another lady. To watch Mike teach the Word of God sitting on the rock reminded me of Jesus preaching to his disciples.. we read out Psalm 24 and Ezekiel 37 about the valley of the dry bones, we sang and also prayed for school fees so that their children could go to school and be educated to a point of being able to have a better life than their parents,.
 In UK Education is free up an until you go to College or University unless your parents can afford private education and then there are grants if you have no funds. Here in Kenya school fees cripple poor families and last year four boys committed suicide because of school fee related issues. Also Girls prostitute themselves for school fees, sanitary towels and pants which leads to early pregnancy HIV/AIDS, plus early marriage  and so they remain illiterate and ignorant, carrying on the cycle of  poverty.
They also prayed abut small businesses, through poverty people get out loans that they can’t pay back causing them to steal. If caught they can be stoned to death set alight with a tyre and petrol or  being given drugs by the witch doctor that causes confusion and erratic behaviour like eating grass. Without the antidote they will die but that is only given if they confess to the theft. Another problem is that the only alternative for paying off loans is making Changa which then leads them to alcoholism. If these people had small loans to generate income in better businesses like selling chickens, second hand clothes, small fish and vegetables then they would be in the position of sending their children to school and sustaining the family. Small businesses also creates the community to grow, irradiating ,illiteracy and poverty.
We also prayed for the church building to e developed as so many moré people are coming to the Lord and being saved and we want a living church one that’s opening and functioning everyday in prayer praise, groups, conferences and food clothes bank, courses like alpha, freedom in Christ, marriage, and the 12 step programme for addicts for example.
We also prayed against sickness because in Chungni and in Suna as a whole everyone has HIV /AIDS and its only a handful of people who are free from the sickness. Because of HIV / Aids we see so many people dying from malaria and typhoid enhanced with them going to the witch doctor and using traditional medicine. Of late we have seen so many young children dying daily. We have funeral every week but seldom, seldom, do you see a wedding. Just after Mike left John Okuku’s Grandson baby Paul died of HIV having taken him to a Traditional Doctor rather than the hospital. I just thank God that that day we had given John a Luo Bible. John was a change drinker until Jesus brought him from the Miry Clay and set his feet upon a rock..the Rock of Jesus Christ.
After an awesome experience up the mountain we went then to Malera Primary school, to show Mike the trophies the girls have won at the several football tournaments we have had for girls in Education to raise the profile of Girl Child Education and bring to light the problems that girls face and why so many girls never get any further than class 8..  lack of sanitary towels, lack of light to study, child labour, early pregnancy and marriage as young as 9 to get a dowry, lack of school fee and parents who don’t encourage or value education because of ignorance, children especially orphans are abused by their families both sexually and as farm why we are  in the early stages as a ministry of building a ten classroom orphanage school to enable the children of the village to be educated and given basic human rights.
We also visited Malera Secondary School which is my favourite school with my favourite Principle Mr Singe as he has a real heart for the orphans especially the bright students, he really supports them even paying for their school fees himself and allowing their caretakers to pay for fees with maize and fire wood.  He now wants to build a dormitory for girls and boys studying in form 4 so that they get every opportunity to study in safety why I gave him an award for his outstanding efforts.
Then late afternoon we picked up the many things that Mike had sent via courier, the sound system etc and wow that was so exciting a real answer to the churches prayers. Gods miracles are just so normal and easy and natural that if you don’t have a mind open for the Lord you could miss it. When we do things in our strength it’s such a big deal.
The chokruwok that night was in Neto’s Fathers house; both father and son were once drunkards and only a few months ago. His wife Vumi had called George and myself out to their home as she was so upset with the behaviour of Neto and how he once had accidentally cut his child with the panger. It was at this time that we led him to the Lord with my testimony of being once an alcoholic and now I am born again followed by his baptism with a bucket of water. He was a fisherman at one time and a notorious drinker  in Lake Victoria, once he was home he would beat his wife and children but since his salvation he has become a disciple and on fire for the Lord. What was so humbling was that he had cooked chicken for Mike’s meal and normally the family starve and have little to eat but it gave them pleasure to give to Mike and it humbled me as I had been preaching on giving. Mikes message was we need to do good as Christians…
Saturday we met at the Migori Prison and I love prison ministry as it’s my calling. We had been there several times before and each time we take a member of Transformed Chungni ex criminals and Chang’a men. We have already taken Challis, Nelson, Uma and now we have taken Neto, he and I gave testimonies and Dominicous sang, Pastor Sani Prayed and George led the meeting whilst Mike brought the word of the prodigal son. The main thought was that God was training many of these men for their calling in prison and that even those who were going to be there forever God would give them grace to be there and use them. Many of the men were like the prodigal son, in greed wanting wealth NOW and squandering the money on sin and pleasure then it all went. They end up in the gutter and there’s no way out so they know when they come to their senses that they need to go back home to the Father (even as father God) and go back seeking forgiveness and being humble, but God welcomes you back home even stinking in pig swill and gets out the best the very best clothes and has a celebration through forgiveness and show it.. Some have to learn kit physically some just believe..

It was wonderful that Mike hugged all the men it was something that would have empowered the prisoners. God showed me one man who looked so miserable and he had a skin complaint UI had a word from Isaiah 41 about Gods servant not being afraid as God is with them and I spoke this over the man and Got Mike to pray for him, I believe it was a demonic spirit..And when he was prayed for something came out of his mouth and I truly believe it was a demon. The men so loved the teaching that Mike gave that one man asked for Mike to introduce himself
The Chaplain is a wonderful man he looks after the children whose mothers are in the women’s prison and they surely need help, we also commented that they need to have a chapel in the prison rather than have it in a room somewhere that’s more special and holy.
After lunch we went to a shop in Migori and mike bought a keyboard which is a part of his ministry and he had exactly the right money in his pocket. I said to the man that he should give his life to Jesus and let us have the keyboard cheaper as he will be blessed, he gave us the keyboard at a cheaper rate but didn’t make that commitment, so I must go back and see if the God has blessed the man and use it to preach to him again.
Whilst in Migori, Mike and I prayed for an alcoholic who fell to the ground by the power of God and we told him to go home and give the money Mike gave him to his wife and children and he walked off looking touched by God.
Then as we drove back to Chungni we stopped at Makuru to visit a drunkard called Vincent. Vincent was married to a teacher and in his day he was a teacher in a secondary school plus his father is a missionaire, but now he has been a drinker for many a year and has just come out of rehab. He didn’t want me to give a testimony just the help and power from God to stop this addiction. I led him to the Lord through the sinners’ prayer and baptising Vincent. The sinners prayer isn’t a ritual its just a guide line as what to say and how to pray to the Lord for precious unbelievers. Mike got Vincent to smash the bottle of alcohol that was empty on the wall, and as he prayed for him it was ,like a demon came from him. We have been back sonce but haven’t found Vincent there, his sisters said that he was still drinking but I know that God has a plan for his life and he is at work… so watch this space.
The evening was amazing because Mike wanted to put up the sound system and the keyboard in the church and as he did it and Morris played the key board we all danced and praised God for his miracles which were just pouring out and he was visiting us as Micah 7 had said.. Mike was just praising the Lord and we were all dancing and singing even the older men were dancing and so, so, so pleased and amazed at what God had done and all the answered prayers. We all laughed and truly had an amazing time.

You see these people don’t have anything, nothing and so this was like a dream come true and knew they served a living God and Jesus was and is alive. He turns our sorrow into joy mourning into dancing and ashes in to beauty.
Sunday was an awesome day the first time Makongeni Messianic, church had a keyboard and a sound system and it completely transformed the church no more silly clapping and instead we have beautiful music and the Sunday School choir came alive as did the youth choir, we sang river of Gold and God of this city and the Sunday school sang Delilah, plus  nikki dot com both with powerful messages. I gave a word about what God has been doing since I came to Suna and brought all the men up who had come from Chang’a  Challis a murderer  who lived like and animal and now a farmer a father and a husband and born again, John his brother was a drunkard and now he has been set free and born again, Nelson was a drunk and a cripple and now born again and walks without   a stick Morris another drunk now a driver, there was Moses and Lahkim both drunkards and now born again and living a new life, plus Eve and baby Elaine the child with club feet and now they are straight after going to the hospital but this has caused the mother Rose top stop drinking after seeing the hand of  God in their lives.
 Sadly the following week that’s when John’s grandson died Baby Paul and also Lahkim’s daughter Mary died of HIV  plus the eldest lady in the community George’s Grandmother who was 102. All deaths were really terrible but atleast they had hope in Jesus when all else has gone we have Jesus Christ. 

God came to visit us and knew what we needed before we even asked but it’s the faith and the asking that God requires. 

Faith without works is dead and works without faith is dead...

Mike spoke again on the same subject and it was just so exciting and new as in Isaiah 43 it talks about how God is doing a new thing and he is and all those prayers were answered and are being answered. The following week we used the new equipment for a service in malaria and it was so powerful that even those who didn’t come to the service heard it and people are coming to the Lord.
I did say though that these are Gods instruments for spiritual warfare not a lovely time of worship but we need to use it to win Suna for God and go into the enemies camp and bring back souls that have been in prison for years in Satan.
God came to visit us and knew what we needed before we even asked but it’s the faith and the asking that God requires.Faith without works is dead and works without faith is dead..
We also thank God for Mike coming he was and is such a blessing and an encouragement and all the praise goes to God amen and may God bless and prosper Mike in his ministry too and we are praying he will come back in December for the conference…….

Kingdom Giving is a revelation like everything in the Kingdom. If you think you understand something, you probably don't.
If you have a need or desire for something that you feel  has come from God, then unlike most Brits reacting to a fleshy version of Seed faith practiced in the States, IT IS PERFECTLY FINE to sow money into the Kingdom then believe God to answer the need that is on your heart. We ARE to test God in this. Most Brits have this inner fear lest God doesn't show up, so like the servant who buries his talent in the ground...because " I thought you were a hard master"....they flunk out and say religiously.....

Oh well I'll give to Elaine, but because I'm righteous I don't expect God to give anything back because that would be selfish.

If God is in you, and He is expressing His desires and wants in you, then those things on your heart are precious and not selfish....but like all things we receive by faith...BUT FIRST AND FOREMOST we give for the expansion of the Kingdom.

Tithing is crap, not because giving is crap, but it feeds your stupid belief that God hasn't nailed all demands of the Old Covenant to the Cross. We don't "do" anything for Jesus to get righteousness....we are so superawed that God invaded our lives at all and GAVE us His Righteousness that we want everyone to know about it...and it's helpful if they are still alive first to hear it !!!! We LOVE because He first loved us.

The people DOING the Kingdom stuff don't get supported. The people NOT doing the Kingdom stuff get put into leadership positions in costly buildings that drain all the saints' finances. Who do you think Jewishbusinessmen derive their shrewdness and business acumen from?  GOD DEMANDS FRUITFULNESS, because HIS SON IN US is fruitful. If it was up to us, God would let us off. But He has invested Jesus inside us, and demands Jesus sized fruit. Call it the Father's JESUS BANK......US.

And He demands THIRTY, SIXTY AND HUNDRED FOLD FRUITFULNESS...because His Son really is that fruitful!!!!

SUNNI AND SHIA ISLAM DIVISION AND VIOLENCE

This is a really long message so only read it if you are really interested in this issue.

A large amount of my work now days is concerned with reconciliation between Shea and Sunni. The conflict between the two has been widely publicized in the media. Yet the vast majority of people do not even know what the differences are between these two are. I therefore want to go into significant detail about these two major strands of Islam so that people understand the fundamentals of this issue.

In Christian terms the difference can be seen like the difference between Catholic and Protestant two strands with the same creeds. They used to kill each other regularly not so long ago and sadly we have seen similar violence and murder between Sunni and Shea. Both are Muslims who fundamentally share the same Islamic beliefs. Their differences are not primarily theological but historical. They date back to the very beginning of Islam regarding who would take over from Mohammed. Over the years several different practices and have developed and these in turn are seen as carrying certain spiritual implications.

The separation dates back to the death of Mohamed. Who was going to take over from him? There were those who thought that the leadership of Islam should be placed under the controls of the companions of Mohamed who were proven capable leaders. There were twelve people who were seen as the right leader team and they became known as the Caliphs. Those who held to this position gave birth to the group that became known as the Sunnis. They where originally lead by one called Abu Bakr. Whom along with Imar, Aisha does the Shea reject. As is much of they’re etching about Mohamed. The Sunni see themselves as orthodox traditional Muslims. This diversity results in a considerable difference in practice on prayer, pilgrimage and fasting. The word Sunni comes from “Hal al–Sunna” which literally means the people of the tradition. They see that their tradition is closer to Mohamed and the prophets mentioned in the Koran. Though Mohamed seen as the final prophet is seen as the ultimate and there are not seen as key people such as Imam Ali and Husain to the Shea. Such leaders after Mohammed are all seen as being merely temporal. The Sunni have also traditionally come under state control, whilst in reality in countries such as Iraq and Iran the Shea clerics are the real ultimate authority.


This results in a major difference in practice between Sunni and Shea. The vast majority of Muslims are Sunni (about 85%) therefore Shea are a minority but the majority in Iran, Iraq, Bahrain and Yemen. The major division is about the issue of hereditary leadership passed through the hereditary line from Mohammed through his son in law Imam Ali.


Thus the Shea believe in a hereditary leadership believing the rule of Allah passed through a particular line. Ultimate in their beliefs is in the historic Imams. They are seen as being sinless in their very essence, with total authority coming from Allah. The historic Imam’s are venerated like saints and their tombs are venerated as shrines. Pilgrimage to these shrines is a very regular occurrence. This group did not look to the original three caliphs but to Imam Ali. He was both the Cousin and Son in Law of Mohamed. He was seen as the rightful heir of Mohamed and those who follow this tradition are the Shea. A great significance is based on the whole issue of linage to Imam Ali. Anybody in his line is called a Sayed (Sir) and to this day all the Imams of this lineage wear a black rather than white turban.

Shea Islam is not known about much in the West. They are often referred to as Shea Militia and known as the militants who control Iran and have carried out negative activity in Lebanon. The fact is that the majority of Shea are a peaceful and wonderful people. Our relationship to them is particularly very close. Shea Islam is very hierarchical, orders are passed down from the Grand Ayatollah Ali Al Sistani based in Najaf a very holy Shea City in the South of Iraq where Imam Ali is buried and has his shrine. The grand Ayatollah is surrounded by the Majoria the other four Grand Ayatollah’s who are next in line to Ali Al Sistani.


When there was a particular onslaught against the Christians in Iraq the Shea offered the Christian sanctuary and protection. The general feeling amongst the Christians is that the Shea will protect them. Most of the recent attacks on Christians have been from a very small section of the Sunni.


RECONCILIATION

Reconciliation between Shea and Sunni is key in Iraq. The extremists are in both groups. There divide dates back over 1000 years but it is greater than ever. Much of our work has been bringing these two strands of Islam that have been so much against each other because of their years of difference. It is the leaders of these groups that listened to each other over two years and became best friends with each other. It is this group that we have remained close friends of. They trust us and we love and give to them and at one level it is working.

The fact is that much if the violence is caused by the Sunni extremists. Many of these are linked to the Whabbi and Salafi movements that come out of Saudi Arabia. Included in this group is Al Qaida and those connected to them. At a previous meeting of the High Council of Religious Leaders in Iraq after a major massacre of Christians a joint Fatwa (Religious injunction) was issued by both the Shea and Sunni together. This was a major sign of reconciliation and it was done to protect the minorities from murder. The Fatwa worked immediately and no Christian has been killed from that day. This is a wonderful example of how reconciliation saves lives.

I get very frustrated when I hear that what is simply needed is advocacy with governments, diplomats and foreign ministries. These people can do nothing about such crisis but they can put pressure on governments to support organizations like ours to fund their engagement on such work. We were very fortunate the Danish Government came up quickly with all the funds to support our engagement. Providing all the security in the world would not provide the security needed. What made the difference was that the very people we were dealing new the people committing the violence. They could put pressure on their people to observe the Fatwa and stop their evil ways. What came out of this meeting was complex intelligence so I cannot share it all here but we then managed to have a very productive meeting between all the relevant coalition ambassadors and our delegates. One thing I can mention is how these terrorist cells are training and using children to be suicide bombers.

An organization exists called the “Birds of Paradise”. This is an evil Sunni terrorist group that teaches children between the ages of 7 and 12 to be suicide bombers. The belief being that they are less likely to be caught by security. The effect is horrendous. Many innocent people are killed and maimed. This group is very closely linked to Al Qaida and is very closely linked to the terrorism we are seeing today.

The Battle for Power (the Sunni Loss of Power)

Much more could be written on the cause of terrorism but ultimately it can be summed up in two words Loss and Power. Wherever there is terrorism ultimately you will find that the perpetrators feel that they have been involved in serious loss.
As regards the Sunni terrorists they feel that since 2003 they have experienced major loss in all the follow areas:

Property
Business
Money
Political Influence and ultimately Power

We may be able to see that ultimately the events are caused by the process of debathfication but the effects are the loss of all of the above. The result is the ultimate loss of Power. Ultimately the ruling minority has lost their power because of democracy. The result is that there is a minority within the minority who feel that the only way to maintain their power is to fight for it. Even if they cannot regain their power they can at least show their level of force within their minority group by causing a breakdown in the power of the majority.

The Battle for Power (the Shea Loss of Power)

Whilst the Shea may be the majority they also have a great sense of loss resulting in an increasing sectarian divide between Sunni and Shea. The loss caused has been life with so many of their community killed. This has in turn meant that many families have lost their income because they have lost their sole earner. Then there is a major religious dimension to this loss because so many of their places of worship have suffered major destruction resulting once again in loss. The loss between the two is what results in what has become known as religious sectarianism. Both Sunni and Shea feel that they have suffered major loss. Though 80% of the terrorist activity is carried out by members of the Sunni Community there are Shea involved in revenge attacks.

To add to the sectarian divide there have been several outrageous Sunni religious declarations and sermons on TV stating that at first the Shea should be killed and only then the Jews and the Christians.

The Reconciliation Process

The reconciliation process take place at two main levels. One is at the High Level with the most senior religious leaders and the other is at the grassroots levels with community religious leaders. There is also a key relation to the key political leaders. From the Christian side this includes COR member Yonadam Kanna and Minister Sargon Slewa. From the Muslim side Vice President Huzaie who is Shea with Sheik Khalid Al Mullah who is Sunni.

Grassroots

The grassroots work amongst the community religious leaders is involved directly in reducing violence. It has been very successful in doing this by preventing their community from getting involved in violent sections of working with their community such as Al Qaida and the birds of paradise.

The fact is that this process only works if the most senior religious leaders are behind it. That is why it is most essential that there are regular meetings of the High Council of Religious Leaders in Iraq. It is these leader’s that have the authority to influence those who are below them and prevent them and their people from becoming involved in violent activity.

High Council of Religious Leaders in Iraq has not met recently and we see a major growth in sectarianism. It is essential that it does so at least twice a year. This work was originally totally supported by the US DOD. After political change this support stopped. We then saw a major rise in violence; in particular we saw a major onslaught against the Christian community with 58 people being killed in one Syrian Catholic service. It was after this terrible attack that the Danes came to the rescue. The first ever-joint Iraqi Sunni Shea Fatwa was produced which totally condemned all violence and murder of minorities. We did not expect the results of this Fatwa to be immediate but they were and the onslaught against the Christians stopped in it entirety.

It is essential that the grassroots work continues costing only about $10,000 a month. This money has come jointly from the British Embassy and the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East of which I am the president. As regards the International meetings of the High Council of Religious Leaders in Iraq, we have seen how these are essential to truly bring about a major reduction in violence. These meetings are considerably more expensive and one average have cost $250,000 per meeting. These meeting have happened at various points since 2003 and have had major positive effect. It is hoped that several supporters can be found to enable this essential process.
