My reply to Charlie Shamp on Lake and Hicks

Post by Charlie Shamp

There is a price for glory.

Not money. Not talent. Not charisma.

But the raw currency of hunger; the kind that drives men to lock themselves away until heaven responds.

In the dead of night, an angel met a desperate man. John G. Lake, once aflame with the Azusa Street revival’s fire, now wandered streets haunted by the absence of God’s glory. The divine messenger from heaven manifested and spoke to Lake,

“The glory has left. But it will return to ANY man who pays the price of Acts 1-2.”

For nine months, Lake vanished. No sermons. No crowds. Only a bedroom, a Bible, and a broken heart. When he emerged, hell itself recoiled:

- Lepers grew new fingers as he prayed.

- Bubonic plague (then called “Black Death”) withered under his microscope.

- 625 churches erupted across South Africa in five years.

- Spokane, Washington, became America’s healthiest city after 100,000 certified healings.

How?

Nine months. Nine months. Nine months with God!

Tommy Hicks watched peers like A.A. Allen and Oral Roberts move in miracles; while he remained ordinary. Until he snapped.

First 40 days: Fasting. Screaming. “GOD, WHERE ARE YOU?”

Silence.

Second 40 days: Emaciated. Defiant. “SHOW ME YOUR GLORY OR KILL ME.”

Silence.

Third 40 days: A skeletal man bargaining with eternity.

Then:

An angel named Healing Rain crashed into his room and spoke,

“Your prayers stormed heaven’s throne. I’m assigned to you until death.”

Argentina’s dictator, Juan Perón; a skin-cancer-ridden tyrant mocked Hicks:

“Heal ME first.”

Power exploded. Perón’s face healed. Stadiums overflowed. 3 million souls saved. Cabinet members wept as they kneeled

Heaven’s waiting. Hell’s trembling.

Who will pay the price to birth REAL REVIVAL?!

This is Insufficient for this reason.

My reply.

________

No no no no no no no

This is why this is all one flask of oil . Matthew25

This is precisely why Masons could prevail against Lake's work so easily.

This is exactly why Elijah could be sent into a dizzy spin by Jezebel after the fire.

If this is your idea of life in God read your Bible again. This isn't Kingdom . This is but human petulance. Give me power or I die .

This has nothing whatsoever to do with the 30 years of Jesus and His 42 months with the disciples.....nothing whatsoever. Its just screaming for power and temporary supernatural moves of God .

God is obliged to answer humans . He gave us the earth . But who will actually do the will of the Lord? The calling of the importunate widow at an unearthly hour is in the storyline somewhere , but so are all the other chapters in the gospel .

John wanted to call down fire upon a village . James and John were called sons of thunder.

The Mark quartile holler and holler for mercy and helps. I know from experience thaf it would have been all Jesus could do to shut John Mark up for 42 months while the real apostolic foundation was being laid .

These guys holler in a different way but when they get their own way " helping other people " we see 150 years of Salvation Army and absolutely nothing changes. .....they go round with an ambulance picking up the fallout of the next of Evils policies but stopping absolutely nothing .

None of this emaciated yelling out for Jesus power does anything other than fill Argentinian stadiums . Jesus honours human will . He has to . He gave the earth to us but nobody is any nearer the Son of Man or ladder vision of a complete Body under One Head with angels ascending and descending with any of the consistency of Jesus life on earth . And this is the zöe we have received from heaven to build City on a Hill, a functioning Light on a Hill with lots of outstanding miracles and in less than 400 years the whole of Pagan Rome has shrivelled to nothing, yet it bestrode the then known world like one impenetrable fortress a bit like the later Iron Curtain .

Pentecost is so Insufficient as a statement. It was only ever the middle Feast. It tries its hardest to be something but Tabernacles is the Feast that has the pouring out of water and I gathering built within it structurally as well as Community and something for believers to come into .

Otherwise we get 5 week or 5 months blips of power then a few years later after Smith Wigglesworth's little tin tabernacle ex boxing hut work shrivels up the last lady hands me the key . Im talking real life here . This happened.

Our gospel is better than this nonsense .

Read the Bible .

Charlie Shamp on Sofa Criticism

There’s a cost to carrying the Gospel into hard places. I’ve stared down mobs shouting threats, been in the hospital from my body giving out, held at gunpoint, threatened by Hindu and Muslim extremists and had to flee for my safety. I’ve slept in mud huts, wondered through garbage dumps and slums wondering if I’d live to see my family again. That’s real persecution.

But here’s what those moments taught me. When death breathes down your neck for preaching Jesus, you stop fearing man’s opinion. You stop caring about bitter YouTube rants or accusations of being a “false prophet” from people who’ve never stepped foot in the battlefield. Why? Because I’ve already gambled my life for this calling. I’ve walked away from near death moments knowing the devil couldn’t silence me so why would I let some stranger’s keyboard?

Those lies online? They don’t haunt me. Why? Because I’ve literally seen the hand of God move and my life was spared. I got to live another day and went home to hug my kids, kiss my wife, and thanked God I survived to keep fighting. Every minute I waste defending myself against petty critics is a minute stolen from feeding the hungry, praying for the sick, or holding my family close.

To my fellow warriors doing real Kingdom work. If you’ve bled for the Gospel, sweated in the harvest, or wept over souls, you know truth isn’t measured by likes or shares. The enemy wants you distracted to make you answer every allegation, obsess over every rumor. Don’t. The same grace that kept you alive in the valley of death will shield you from cheap words.

I’m not here to debate armchair theologians or answer to people that are bitter about the church. I’m here to preach Jesus until my last breath. If I’d died in that prison, or that malaria clinic, or on that dirt road… my kids wouldn’t remember me as a man who “won arguments.” They’d remember a father who showed them how to live and die for what matters; the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Keep your armor on. Keep plowing. Let the critics mock; let the bitter rage. We’ve got a Kingdom to build.

Apostle Paul said this, “I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race…” (Acts 20:24)
